Reducing Carbon Footprint | Canada

Engineering a better planet

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time.

In carbon-intensive manufacturing, lowering emissions can be a challenge, but it can also lead to some positive outcomes: increased production capacity, lower costs, and a reduction in the harmful impact of carbon on the atmosphere. By leveraging environmentally friendly components, energy, design, and practices, manufacturers can convert waste and inefficiency into a smarter, greener future. At IDEC, we take the mandate to reduce carbon emissions seriously. We are relentless about building energy-wise systems that reduce your carbon footprint and save money. We can help you design an eco-efficient facility from the ground up or integrate carbon-reducing equipment and processes into your existing operation. We also support the use of solar to offset utility-supplied energy, provide backup power, and lower emissions during shipping, distribution, waste disposal, and maintenance.

Our commitment to sustainable manufacturing influences what we offer our customers. By designing smaller components that perform multiple functions, we enable our customers to accommodate smaller footprints while optimizing production. Our miniaturized parts, PLCs, and LED lighting lower energy consumption. Our “reduce, reuse, and renew” philosophy is a blueprint for the modern manufacturer. Our customers reduce onsite maintenance, reuse existing resources, and take advantage of renewable energy.

IDEC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives

IDEC is serious about social accountability. We are mandated to reduce our carbon footprint and increase the use of renewable energy sources at our facilities worldwide. We strive to be carbon neutral, choose suppliers with similar values, and develop products that meet the corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals of our customers. Our U.S. headquarters in Silicon Valley uses roof-mounted solar panels and wind turbines to provide about 50% of its power. LED lamps in our warehouse and external LED lighting reduce energy consumption by 30% per year. Reducing our carbon footprint and increasing the use of renewable energy sources is our commitment to sustainability and the world.
