Providing solutions that enhance safety and productivity, as a leading company in safety

Since our founding, we have focused on safe environments for humans interacting with machines, and to that end we have developed safety-related devices that are thoroughly dedicated to safety, reliability, and ease of use. We are on the cutting edge of providing solutions that enhance safety and productivity.
Automation and the use of robotics is on the rise at manufacturing sites. We have come up with our next-generation safety philosophy “Collaborative Safety (Safety2.0)”, which is aimed at coordinating safety between humans and machines.
This philosophy doesn’t just deal with keeping humans out of harm’s way, it also allows us to provide cooperative safety equipment applications that allow the machines to sense any dangers for humans in order to better regulate the safety environment. At the same time, we are pouring our efforts into outreach programs such as the creation of new safety standards and safety consulting.
With our products such as safety laser scanners that are able to detect the presence or incursion of humans in work areas or within the bounds of safety fences, interlock switches that can detect whether device doors or safety fence gates are opened or closed, or enabling devices that are compliant with international safety standards, we provide comprehensive environments where safety is always the number one consideration. We offer support for all manner of safety architecture in mechanical devices that conform to international standards, and we are actively promoting Vision Zero.

Interlock switches

Interlock switches are devices used to prevent problems that occur during device operation. They are installed on the front doors of machine tools or the doors of safety fences around industrial robots, where they detect the doors’ opening and closing. IDEC’s product series can fulfill any purpose. Our extensive lineup includes products that can be installed in not only manufacturing settings but also on food machinery as well as some of the world’s smallest switches.

Emergency stop pushbutton switch

By adopting IDEC's original safety technology such as safety potential structure and safe break action, and lineup of products with high reliability of safety ensuring function, it is possible to correspond to various applications. In addition to the pursuit of safety, the design incorporates hygiene and operational feeling.

Emergency-stop assist system

Even in situations where the emergency-stop switch cannot be pressed directly, it can be operated wirelessly from a remote location.

ANSHIN sensor

A sensor based on the principle of capacitance, specially designed for collaborative robots, can detect people and stop the robot without contact. It supports the workplace where people and robots work together by solving the anxiety of workers who want to avoid touching the robot as much as possible, even if safety is ensured with a collaborative robot.

Enabling switches

Enabling switches are safety devices built into portable operating devices, such as robot teaching pendants. With an enabler switch, hazards caused a machine’s unexpected operation can be avoided, regardless of whether the hazard is due to an intentional operation by the operator or a reflexive (unconscious) movement by the operator. Our enabling switches are suitable for international safety environments and support safety-building where people and robots work together.

Safety laser scanners

A safety laser scanner is a device that maintains safety by detecting people approaching or entering machinery and people remaining in hazardous locations. Our safety laser scanners are equipped with functions designed to ensure that productivity is not impaired. They include sounding an alarm before a person approaches a machine and allowing only workpieces to pass. When used on transport equipment, laser safety scanners can produce information on the surrounding environment that is needed for autonomous driving and also detect people for collision avoidance.

Safety controllers

Safety controllers are safety devices that control machinery startup based on signals received from safety input devices—namely emergency stop switches and safety switches. They are equipped with a control lock that will not permit machinery to start if safety cannot be confirmed or a system malfunction occurs. Our safety controllers simultaneously help reduce man-hours and maintain safety.

Creating explosion protection environments with enhanced safety and security

We have been responding to our customers’ needs through our more than 70 years of research and development into explosion protection technologies.
We have adapted to social changes such as factory automation and internationalization, and we have been able to develop a wide variety of equipment associated with explosion protection that can be used at sites such as petroleum plants and chemical factories that handle explosive gases, or warehouses.
We fulfill more detailed customer requests for control boxes, such as their layouts, sizes, and operability, while promoting the acquisition of overseas explosion protection certifications such as IECEx (international explosion protection product certification) and ATEX (the European directive for explosion protection) directives, and North American UL standards.
Ours is a product lineup that is able to respond on a global scale.
We have an abundant variety of LED illumination units available that can take the place of conventional mercury lamps, offering illumination from high ceilings or for penetrative in-tank inspections.
These lights benefit our customers with energy savings and low maintenance. In addition, optimal networked camera systems for monitoring in sites such as manufacturing plants enable an enhanced degree of freedom for installation sites via wireless LANs, as well as monitoring via remote operation.
These systems also contribute towards improved safety in explosion protection environments and towards energy savings and reduced maintenance.

Explosion-protection control boxes

We meet global demand by providing products that have been certified by IECEx, ATEX, and UL, which are the best certifications for overseas plants. We satisfy a diverse range of needs by providing a full line of control units for push-button switches, pilot lights, meters, and much more.

Explosion-protection barriers

Our barriers are devices that limit electrical energy so that it does not in itself become a source of ignition, even when in hazardous locations where explosive gas is present. They can be used safely even in areas classified as “Zone 0,” the highest hazard level. We use our explosion-proof barriers by connecting them to switches of intrinsically safe explosion-proof construction, lamps, buzzers, and analog signal instrumentation devices. We satisfy diverse needs by making many variations available, with each being suited to a specific requirement.

Explosion protection vibration sensor

It can be used in hazardous locations (Zone 2) such as petroleum plants and chemical factories, and provides early detection of equipment failure via a wireless network.
